We are thrilled to announce the release of Tungsten Dashboard v8, the next-generation web-based interface for managing and monitoring MySQL and MariaDB clusters. As data environments grow more distributed and complex, the need for a unified, intuitive, and secure management interface becomes paramount. Tungsten Dashboard v8 is designed to meet these demands, building on years of customer feedback and real-world operational experience.
This major update brings a modern, streamlined user experience, advanced security, and real-time operational insight — empowering database administrators to manage their critical infrastructure with greater confidence, clarity, and control.
What’s New in Tungsten Dashboard v8?
Tungsten Dashboard v8 represents a significant leap forward in usability, security, and performance. It contains features designed to simplify your daily tasks and provide deeper insights into your cluster environments. Key improvements include:
Smarter, Safer Operations
Managing clusters is easier and safer than ever with:
- Improved cluster locking and blocking operations prevent conflicting changes and ensure smooth, controlled operations.
- User-friendly operation triggers make it simple to execute commands with confidence.
- Updated filtering and search tools help you quickly find the resources or events you need, even in large, complex environments.
Enhanced Security from End to End
Security is a top priority in Dashboard v8. The new release introduces:
- End-to-end encryption of sensitive data, ensuring confidentiality and integrity.
- Role-based user management for granular access control, supporting compliance and best practices.
- Token-based authentication and full SSL support, securing every connection from the user’s browser to the cluster nodes.
Efficient, Low-Impact Communication
At the heart of Dashboard v8 is a brand-new communication protocol. Instead of the traditional polling approach — which can strain cluster resources — the Dashboard now uses a publish/subscribe architecture over a persistent TCP connection. This means:
- Rapid, real-time updates on cluster health and status, without the overhead of constant polling.
- Automatic cluster discovery: Simply define a single entry point, and the Dashboard will map out the rest of your cluster—no need for third-party load balancers to provide high availability to the cluster.
- Built-in load balancing and error handling: All managed within the Dashboard, further simplifying your environment.
Real-Time Monitoring Across Any Infrastructure
Tungsten Dashboard v8 is built for today’s hybrid and multi-cloud world. Monitor clusters in real time, regardless of where they’re hosted, and enjoy a consistent, intuitive experience across all your deployments.
Simple, Flexible Installation
Getting started is easier than ever with:
- Docker Compose: Install the Dashboard with just Docker and Docker Compose—no complex dependencies.
- Helm for Kubernetes: For Kubernetes users, deploy the Dashboard with Helm for seamless integration.
